Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women

Non-Government organisation access to interpreting services

Child Safety, Youth and Domestic and Family Violence funded services

The department has continued to meet the requirements of the Queensland Language Services Policy by facilitating non-government organisations (NGOs) to have access to interpreter services to support vulnerable Queenslanders.

The department is invoiced directly under an arrangement with Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) National. This reduces the administrative burden of NGOs paying up-front for interpreting costs.

This arrangement covers funded services under the following Investment Specifications:

  • Child Protection (Support Services)
  • Child Protection (Placement Services)
  • Domestic and Family Violence
  • Young People

To be eligible, an NGO must have applied for and been provided a unique TIS Code by the department.

If you are a new NGO delivering services and require a unique TIS Code, please contact the department by emailing interpreting.services@communities.qld.gov.au.

For further information regarding this process, please refer to the fact sheet.

Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) also have information available on their website about their services and the online booking system.
