Stage 8 updates

Stage 8 includes both amended content and new procedures. The content of Stage 8 is outlined below with a summary of the changes.

One new procedure as outlined below:

  • 1.15 Downgrading or deleting an approved notification: the previous procedure, which was removed prior to the launch of ICMS, has bee rewritten to reflect the process as it relates to ICMS.

Amendments to one procedure, as outlined below:

  • 7.20 Transition from care – planning and support: additional content has been included in the procedure in relation to the availability of services for young people transitioning from care, from Disability Services Queensland.

Four new procedures have been implemented as a result of the review of the matters of concern policy, as outlined below:

  • 9.1 Deciding whether information constitutes a matter of concern: this procedure outlines the process for deciding the appropriate response to concerns raised about the quality of care for a child in out-of-home care under the Child Protection Act 1999, section 82(1).
  • 9.2 Assessing a child placement concern report: This procedure outlines the process for assessing a child placement concern report in relation to a child placed under the Child Protection Act 1999 , section 82(1).
  • 9.3 Investigating and assessing a matter of concern notification: This procedure outlines the process for investigating and assessing a matter of concern notification in relation to a child placed under the Child Protection Act 1999, section 82(1).
  • 9.4 Developing and monitoring an action plan: This procedure outlines the process for developing and monitoring an action plan for a matter of concern.

In addition to the content of Stage 8, corrections have been made to the following two procedures:

  • 2.12 Completing the family risk evaluation tool: Under the heading 'Structure of the family risk evaluation tool', the information about policy and discretionary overrides has been corrected to reflect that a discretionary or policy override can only increase the risk level.
  • 7.12 Deciding custody and guardianship matters for children in out-of-home care: Under the heading 'Overseas travel' new information has been added to correct the information about approval for overseas travel and passports for children in out-of-home care.
