Support for parents and families

Raising a child is not always easy but there is support available for parents and carers.

  • The Queensland Government provides free access to the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program to help Queensland parents and carers raise happy, healthy children and teenagers.
  • The Talking Families website is full of handy tips and information so you can get help for you and your family or offer support to a family you know.
  • If your family needs more support, Family and Child Connect can connect you with the local services you need to make things better for you and your family. There are 17 Family and Child Connect services covering Queensland and over 200 family support services for families experiencing vulnerabilities that impact on their ability to safely nurture their children. Phone 13 FAMILY (13 32 64) to find help in your local area.
  • oneplace is an online community service directory for Queensland parents, families and professionals looking to find local support. There’s more than 48,000 familiy community services all in oneplace. Simply search words that describe what you need help with, and where.
  • Parentline is a confidential telephone counselling service which supports parents and carers of children. Phone 1300 301 300 from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week.
  • The Raising Children Network website offers resources and information on parenting for children of all ages.

You can find out more about caring for a child, including information about education, child care services, adoptions and foster care on the Queensland Government website.

The website also has information for parents and families about a range of topics, such as raising babies, health services, family activities, financial help, family relationships and legal advice.

If you have reason to suspect a child is experiencing harm, or is at risk of experiencing harm, contact Child Safety Services. Always phone Triple Zero (000) if you believe a child is in immediate danger.
