Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women

Intervention with Parental Agreement

Intervention with Parental Agreement (IPA) allows child safety officers to work intensively with children, young people and their families to meet their protection and care needs while they remain in the family home for all, or most of the intervention period.

Intervention with Parental Agreement cases are only used when parents are willing and able to work with our department to meet their child's protection and care needs, and that by the end of the intervention it is likely the parents will be able to meet these needs.

This type of intervention does not require a court order and is used to prevent children and young people from further entering the child protection system.
