Queensland Youth Week (QYW19), to be held from 3 to 14 April 2019, is an annual celebration allowing us all to reflect on young people aged 12 to 25 and the positive contributions they make to Queensland communities.

The theme for 2019 is 'unlimited' - celebrating the boundless energy young people bring to our communities and encouraging them to look to the future and see limitless possibilities.

2019 celebrations have been extended by a few days so high schools can get involved at the end of term.

In 2018 there were almost 200 events held across Queensland. In 2019 we’re aiming for an even bigger event.

Make it your youth week

QYW19 is off to a great start. Our artwork competition, which ran from December 2018 to January 2019, received many wonderful entries from young people across Queensland.

Our winner and runners-up have been announced and our winner’s piece is now the QYW19 branding.

QYW19 grant recipients have also been announced and events from right across Queensland are being published every day on our events calendar.

We have more exciting activities yet to be announced, so stay in contact with us to keep up with all the latest news.

Queensland Youth Strategy

In 2017 we released the Queensland Youth Strategy following the largest youth consulation process ever undertaken for a Queensland strategy. Over 1,200 young people told us what was important to them.

From that feedback we developed 4 Building Blocks which form the heart of the strategy:

  1. Supporting our most vulnerable young people
  2. Housing
  3. Healthy futures
  4. Educating into employment.

Young people also told us they want to continue to have input into matters that affect them. We launched the Youth eHub in 2017 as a platform for young people to engage with government.

During QYW19 we’ll be supporting events that aim to advance young people with activities that align with the Building Blocks. We’ll also be host lots of projects on the eHub for you to share your opinions.
